Answers to the Most Commonly
Asked Questions
about Freestyle Cruising.

Q. What is appropriate dinner attire?
A.
Almost whatever you want. We don’t require you to wear a tie or other formal attire to dinner. We do request however that guest wear “resort casual” attire to dine in any of our specialty or main restaurants.

Q. What exactly is “resort casual” attire?
A.
Resort casual is a much more comfortable way to dress for dinner. Basically, it’s slacks or pants and a collared shirt for men and pants, slacks, a dress or skirt for women.

Q. Are there any formal nights?
A.
Yes, and they are optional. At least once during your cruise, one or more of the restaurants will host a formal dinner. There will be several other dining choices where resort casual attire is appropriate.

Q. How do we know where to eat each night?
A.
There are no rules as to where you dine or when you dine, so try them all.

Q. What time are the dinner seatings?
A.
Our restaurants are open from 5:30 pm to midnight, with seating available until 10 pm. You can dine early to late. It’s all up to you. And if you want even more flexibility, room service is available 24 hours a day.

Q. Can we still sit at the same table every night?
A.
Yes. The Maitre d’ will be pleased to arrange that for you once you are on board. Or you can change your mind and sit at a different table in a different restaurant every night of our cruise.

Q. Do I pay extra for all these dining choices?
A.
All meals in the main restaurants, Lido Café and 24-hour restaurant are included in your cruise fare. Snacks, room service and on-deck grills are also complimentary. Specialty restaurants have a nominal fee or have à la carte pricing.

Q. What’s different about Freestyle Disembarkation?
A.
Disembarkation used to be a lot of hurry up and wait. With Freestyle Cruising, you can relax, order room service and enjoy your last morning with us.

Q. Is the service any different with Freestyle Cruising?
A.
We’ve improved our service to a “best-in-class” service ratio of nearly one crew member per stateroom.

Worry-free, Convenient, No Hassle Tipping. On traditional cruises, guests waited until the last night to tip room stewards and restaurant servers. You had to get bills in the proper denominations, stuff them in envelopes, then hand them to each individual. With Freestyle Cruising you can enjoy your last night at sea, just take advantage of our No-worries gratuities service, automatic and easy, but still optional and your choice.

    Features of Freestyle Gratuities:
  • Service charge is automatically applied to your shipboard account.
  • $10 per guest per day, for guests age 13 and above.
  • $5 per day for children age 3-12 (no charge for children under the age of three).
  • All service personnel on board receive gratuities from this service charge.
  • If you wish to tip more or less than the suggested guidelines, contact the Front Desk to make any adjustments you think appropriate.

It's not everyday you can see a Broadway show 200 miles at sea. This year NCL offer an all new wave of lavish productions: "Guys and Dolls", "Smokey Joe's Cafe", "Crazy For You", "Grease", ect....

All About Dive In: Ever wonder how the other two-thirds of the world live? More than a million guests have taken the plunge with NCL's Dive In program. In fact, NCL pioneered Dive In, the first snorkeling program of its kind in the cruising industry! If you have a desire to learn, NCL licensed instructors can teach almost everyone to snorkel.

How the program works: NCL exciting and well-developed Dive In program offers complete snorkeling instructions, including the proper use of equipment. Although it isn't difficult to learn, it is important that you complete all the steps. First you'll be asked to fill out an application, short medical history and release form, followed by a presentation and question-and-answer session with NCL's licensed instructors. Before each excursion there will be a full explanation of procedures. Finally at the snorkeling site, qualified instructors will take small groups on a guided marine life tour, pointing out various kinds of fish and coral.

    NCL Dive In program includes:
  • Use of snorkeling equipment (mask, fins, snorkel and snorkeling vest)
  • Full instructions
  • Marine life tours at each site
  • Transportation to and from dive sites
  • Dive In certificate

Duration: 3 hours.
Truly the dive of a lifetime! Snorkeling with dozens of stingrays will definitely be a highlight of your cruise. This unique dive on a sandbar in water that's only three to four feet deep gives even novice snorkelers a unique opportunity to experience these beautiful and docile marine mammals up close. The shallow water the stingrays inhabit makes this dive accessible to everyone. An underwater camera is a must to capture the moment! Come see why National Geographic Society calls Stingray City "the most exciting shallow-water dive in the world."

Buck Island is the United States' only underwater National Monument and one of the most popular snorkeling areas in the Caribbean. After a 30-minute powerboat ride from Christiansted to Buck Island, you will enter the water from the boat and have one hour to enjoy this remarkable snorkeling experience. Your Dive In instructors will accompany you on the marked snorkeling trail that takes you along the reef. These stunning underwater coral gardens are filled with brilliantly colored tropical fish.
