Lynn Canal

Lynn Canal is North America's longest glacial fjord, some 2,000 feet deep and stretching nearly 100 miles past forget-me-not blue glaciers, dazzling waterfalls and soaring mountains. Look for ancient grooves carved in the rock by receding glaciers and snuggle up to shore at a spot where the captain knows sea lions often lurk.

LYNN CANAL, SKAGWAY. Early this morning, your ship will enter Lynn Canal, the 67-mile waterway connecting Juneau and Skagway. See magnificent vistas of imperious Klondikes, green forests and abundant wildlife.

We were approaching one of the most beautiful light houses in Alaska located on the Lynn Canal.
LYNN CANAL [Lynn Canal] natural inlet, c.90 mi (145 km) long, 7-12 mi (11-19 km) wide, SE Alaska. It connects in the S with Chatham Strait and Stephens Passage and thrusts north between mountains to break finally into the inlets of the Chilkoot and Chilkat rivers. Navigable to its head, Lynn Canal connects Skagway with Juneau and is an important shipping lane. During the Alaska gold rush (1896) it was a major route to the gold fields.
